3, the main technical characteristics of AGM battery

1)AGM process: the electrolyte is permanently adsorbed in the glass fiber separator, without flowing electrolyte. The capillary action of AGM separator can effectively alleviate the delamination of electrolyte and reduce the self-discharge of battery.

2) There is an oxygen recombination reaction inside the battery, which reduces the water consumption during the battery cycle life and effectively protects the grid to alleviate corrosion.

3) Polar group pressure assembly, the mechanical and chemical properties of the plate are more stable, avoid the active material falling off during the cycle, performance attenuation, and effectively extend the life.

4) The electrolyte is completely adsorbed in the AGM separator, the upper part of the pole group does not need excess electrolyte, the plate can be higher than the traditional battery design, the area is larger, making the AGM battery has better cold start performance.

5) The unique through-wall welding connection can increase the conductivity of current and improve the anti-vibration performance of the battery.

Second, the characteristics of the AGM battery

1. Performance characteristics

AGM lead-acid batteries are lean liquid design, the electrolyte is adsorbed in the AGM separator, and there is no flowing electrolyte in the battery. Due to the advanced materials and design process of AGM, the water loss during use is small, no need to add water, and the AGM battery also has the following advantages:

Low self-discharge, can still be used after a long time of storage (3 months)

Low temperature starting power is high, suitable for frequent starting

Better charging reception

No acid mist discharge during charging

Long service life (3 ~ 5 years)

Low water loss

2. Structural characteristics:

When the ordinary battery is close to the end of charging, due to the decomposition of water, a large amount of water is precipitated.

Make the electrolyte level drop, if the charging current is too large, the more water will be lost. Due to the use of lead-calcium alloy grid, AGM separator and innovative design, the battery has a gas recombination reaction during charging and use, which reduces the water loss of the battery.

Another reason why AGM batteries do not need to add water in use is the use of sealed valve control design, which greatly reduces the evaporation and leakage of water, while the use of AGM separator and the use of "tight assembly" can protect the active substance of the positive plate, which can effectively prevent the active substance from softening and falling off, and extend the service life of the battery.

Because the maintenance-free lead-acid storage uses a sealed design, it will not corrode the pole and the body. A new safety ventilation system is designed for the battery vent hole. The air filter in the airway plug can prevent acid mist discharge and external sparks from entering the battery, preventing the battery from bursting.

3. Usage characteristics:

Low self-discharge, long service life. AGM lead-acid batteries can generally be used for 3-5 years, the ordinary battery grid is lead-antimony alloy, antimony in the charge and discharge cycle from the grid to the positive and negative active substances and electrolyte, thereby increasing the self-discharge of the battery, shorten the service life of the battery, AGM batteries use lead-calcium alloy, alloy does not contain antimony, self-discharge can be reduced to a minimum. The service life of the battery is extended. AGM battery starting power is large, due to the use of new materials and new design methods, compared with ordinary liquid-rich battery, its internal resistance is small, battery output voltage is high, low temperature starting current is large, long life and other advantages.

Third, the difference between AGM batteries and ordinary liquid-rich batteries

AGM batteries are characterized by the fact that no other maintenance is required during use. However, maintenance is required during storage.

AGM batteries are strictly prohibited from being inverted during storage

AGM batteries need to be replenished after a long shelf time, usually once every 3 months.

5. Charging of AGM battery

1, charging method: AGM battery and ordinary lead-acid battery compared with another feature is the use of constant voltage current limiting charging. We know that at the end of constant current charging, the terminal voltage of the battery can reach 2.6-2.8 volts/cell, and the battery will have a large amount of gas generated at such a high charging voltage.

AGM battery has gas recombination reaction, the reaction is exothermic reaction, a large number of gas combination will make the battery temperature rise, affect the service life of the battery, serious will make the battery thermal control, resulting in the battery scrapped, so AGM battery needs to use constant voltage current limiting charging.

2. Setting of charging value: AGM battery charging should be carried out constant voltage current limiting charging method, charging voltage is 14.8V, charging current ≤5I20(I20 is the rated capacity of the battery divided by 20, such as AGM70Ah battery, I20=3.5A), the charging process should detect the battery temperature change, every 2 hours to accurately observe the battery reaction. In theory, the surface temperature of the battery should not exceed 45 ° C, and the charging should be stopped immediately if the temperature is too high.

6. Detection of AGM battery failure

Compared with ordinary lead-acid batteries, the failure rate of AGM batteries is very low, in addition to the use of new materials, which has a great relationship with its manufacturing process. But any product is not absolutely 100%, so AGM batteries also have relative quality problems, the following is a brief introduction to the maintenance-free lead-acid battery detection method:

1. Appearance judgment method

First of all, look at whether the battery appearance is scratched and damaged leading to gas leakage

Then tilt the battery on all sides to see if the battery housing has a "bulge" or contraction phenomenon

2, voltage detection method:

Check whether the battery voltage is normal, such as 12.8V battery power is sufficient, 12.6V battery power is slightly lost, 12V power loss, 10V May have a short circuit problem.

3. Charging inspection method:

Charge the battery less than 12V according to the charging requirements. If the battery cannot reach 12V in 12-18 hours, there may be a short circuit problem. Analyze the cause and proceed to parallel processing. If it reaches 14V during the charging process, continue charging until the battery is fully charged.
