In this regard, many electric car people are predicting that in the era of national standard cars, lithium batteries will replace lead-acid batteries. In fact, however, lead-acid batteries are still dominant. Although lithium batteries have natural advantages in lightweight, the safety performance of lithium batteries cannot be guaranteed, and lead-acid batteries are still the mainstream in the next few years! In fact, lithium batteries are not only safety issues to be overcome, there are also five uncertainties that will hinder their large-scale use.

First, the production cost of lithium is higher

From the production point of view, lithium battery manufacturing is more complex, its cost is generally 2 to 3 times that of lead-acid batteries, which means that a group of lithium batteries will cost 1 to 2 times more than a group of lead-acid batteries, and two, three electric vehicles are after all ordinary people as the main purchasing power, cost-effective will determine lead-acid batteries are still the mainstream.

Second, the lead-acid bubble technology is mature, more stable and safe

Every year, there are many electric vehicle battery explosion and fire incidents across the country, and most of them are caused by lithium batteries! A number of lithium battery explosion accidents occurred in succession, once again put lithium batteries on the cusp of the wave. Lead-acid batteries, on the other hand, have almost no trouble with thermal failure (especially at the discharge stage), and even if they are bulging, there is no trouble with safety. And the production and manufacturing technology of lead-acid batteries is more mature than lithium batteries, since the French physicist Plante invented the world's first lead-acid battery in 1859. In this more than 160 years, it is widely used in all walks of life, after countless times of innovation and improvement, lead-acid battery technology has been very mature. Taking stability as an example, lead-acid batteries discharge more stably.

Third, the lead-acid battery market is still very large
On the basis of the original market there are new market trends

(1) The number of lead-acid electric vehicles is still very large. From the current ownership of electric vehicles, lead-acid electric vehicles account for the largest proportion, which means that when users change the battery, more will consider lead-acid batteries, rather than lithium batteries.

(2), the new trend, some brands gradually use lead acid to replace lithium. Since the new national standard is only for electric bicycles, and the electric (light) motorcycle category does not limit the weight of the vehicle, as long as other aspects meet the standards of electric bicycles and light electric bicycles, lead-acid batteries can be used normally.

Fourth, the lithium battery recovery system is immature and the after-sales storage and transportation risk is large
Lead acid has a complete industrial chain and recovery system

Lead-acid batteries have a high recycling rate and can form a stable cycle, which is also an important reason why lead-acid batteries can continue to maintain strong market vitality. Lithium batteries are difficult to recycle, can not be recycled like lead-acid batteries, facing serious environmental problems and waste of resources, the recovery rate is very low.

(2), lithium storage transportation safety risk is larger, even scrapped lithium still has a lot of energy, in the storage, transportation process, the need for dangerous goods vehicle transport and insulation treatment, lithium practitioners need professional training, the current part of the policy, technology is not perfect.

In terms of small-capacity batteries, the advantages of lithium are not obvious

Due to the high energy density of lithium batteries, its advantages are more reflected in large-capacity batteries, such as high-capacity power batteries of more than 10KW for high-speed electric vehicles. The battery capacity of ordinary electric bicycles is relatively small, the same 48V20AH battery, the battery life difference between lead acid and lithium is not large, and the advantage of lithium batteries is not very obvious.

Lead-acid batteries are definitely an evergreen tree in the field of chemical power supply, which has been born for more than a hundred years, although it has been said in recent years to use lithium-ion batteries to replace, but in some areas temporarily cannot be replaced. At the same time, to look at the problem from the perspective of development, the research of lead-acid batteries has also been improving, and at present, lithium-ion batteries are still invincible in the field of automotive power supply, and lithium-ion batteries still have a long way to go. Moreover, 90% of the electric bicycles on the market are also lead-acid batteries, which is determined by market demand. Therefore, unless the cost of lithium batteries is further reduced, a reliable safety protection system and a perfect waste battery recycling market are established, and the production cost of enterprises and the use cost of users are reduced. Otherwise, the mainstream position of lead-acid batteries in the field of two-wheeled electric vehicles will not be shaken in the short term!
